WHY WOULD ANYONE THINK THIS AUTOSAVE THING WHEN YOU DIE IS A GOOD IDEA?! LET US GO BACK TO OUR LAST SAVE LIKE GAMES HAVE ALWAYS ALLOWED US TO IN THE PAST! GOING BACK TO YOUR LAST SAVE SHOULD NOT BE A CHEAT! IT'S SOMETHING GAMES HAVE ALWAYS ALLOWED US TO DO AND I HAVE NEVER. BUT NO! Instead it SAVES MY LOSS and punishes me to have to start over finding diamonds, getting the enchantments, and using up MORE time that I DO NOT HAVE! I WAS going to go back to the my last save since the last time I died I was playing the Wii U version, and now playing on the Switch. After carefully finding a way to make it down to the treasure, Before I even check all the chests, I get curious and step on the pressure plate. It's the first one I ever found, I had never been in them before, and I went to explore. I am LIVID right now! Words can not properly describe how frustrated I am! I had spent hours crafting diamond equipment and enchanting them to optimize them in as best as I could, and after a while, I find a Desert Temple. We also can't export worlds to usb drives on the Xbox. On the Xbox we can't make that many copies as our world is big and space allowed for Minecraft is limited. On a pc there is probably near unlimited storage for worlds. Now you have to make a copy for each attempt. If you can exit without saving you can rapidly try something else. It takes ages to get vilagers where you want them and when you have set that up you want to try different things, like for instance, how to get them automatically in a minecart. Somethimes we want to experiment with game mechanics. That is a penalty for dying, we try not to die because of it. If we saw that another player was dying we asked what happened and used exit without saving and restarted if we all agreed on it. On the Xbox One Edition, if you then found you drowned because you where underwater when the real life crisis happened and your stuff despawned you could just exit without saving. Sometimes you have to switch your attention to something else immediately. People at the door, a pet jumping and knocking over a vase, an oven that beeps. Playing on a console, in the living room, while sitting on a couch for the tv there are other things going on as well. On a pc you probably play it behind a desk and are very dedicated to the game. Now you have to say 'No, wait, let me make a copy of my world first in case you mess up.'. Same argument for the scenario where a friend visits you, sees Minecraft on your tv, and wants to try it out. Now imagine that you first would have to copy the world, wait for that, and then have the fooling around session, it kills the spontaneous fun. (Lol, it was not literally said like this, but this is what it boiled down to). Then one person usually said: 'from now on, don't save anymore, let's for laughs destroy everything before we all quit, and then do exit without saving'. What typically happened on the Xbox One Edition is that we played and near the end of an evening we were getting tired and started to fool around. On the Xbox, if you have a large world then copying takes quite some time. I can imagine this feature being less important on a pc as copying a world is probably fast. This was possible in Minecraft: Xbox One Edition and I miss it now: Suggestion: Add the ability to disable autosaving while playing Minecraft at least on consoles, and add an option to exit the game without saving.
